What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

I have filed thousands of bankruptcies and for the last 15 years have limited my practice to consumer bankruptcy.  Representing a number of clients with a wide and varied pattern of facts gives you the foresight to identify a problem the client has not perceived, and keep clients from making errors in planning before, during and after filing bankruptcy.  Many bankruptcy clients have suffered cruelly over the years from events out of their control and at the hands of creditors calls and complaints.  I make sure clients know that they can't control everything but they can control their future by  filing bankruptcy.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

No area of the law offers a client a greater chance of renewal than filing bankruptcy.  It truly is a chance to start fresh.  I  have never had a client tell me they wish they had never filed, but only that they wish they had filed sooner and not wasted money paying creditors they could never repay.  Nobody wants to file bankruptcy, but at the end of the day bankruptcy lawyers have happy clients.  Happy clients make happy lawyers.

What makes your law firm unique?

My staff and I devote the time and resources to make an extraordinary effort to promptly communicate and resolve issues.  My clients know they can always reach me after hours and on weekends,  because I actively answer calls and respond to emails seven days a week.  I love to randomly answer the telephone, give the legal assistants a rest, and hear the surprise in the clients voice when they realize Dean answered the telephone.

Describe your ideal client.

My ideal client is ready to get free from debt and get on the right path.  They see bankruptcy as a fresh start and not a tragic end.  They are proactive in gathering the documents and information to file.  They know that I am going to tell them the truth about their case no matter how difficult to hear.
