Why did you become an attorney?

I never though about going to law school until I took a co-op position at a law office in Washington, DC as a part of my undergraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati. I originally took the position because I though it would be fun to live in Washington, DC for 6 months. At the time I never dreamed that the experience would guide me to my profession. I ended my experince loving legal work and eager to go to law school.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

In law school I had a very dynamic family law professor. My experience in his class led me to take an internship with the domestic relations judges in Summit County, Ohio. I very much enjoyed my internship and made the decision at that time to focus my professional career in family law.

What makes your law firm unique?

Recognizing that each divorcing couple presents a unique situation, in addition to traditional divorce and dissolution services, I also provide collaborative divorce law services and limited scope divorce services.
COLLABORATIVE LAW: The collaborative divorce law model provides divorcing couples a forum within which to negotiate a settlement of all issues in a confidential, civil and respectful manner. First, the divorcing couple signs a collaborative law agreement committing to resolve their issues without intervention from the court. The collaborative law agreement requires each party to fully disclose all assets and debts and encourages each party to express his/her goals and objectives for the collaborative law process. The collaborative divorce law forum allows couples to structure creative settlements that work for their family. As an added bonus, going through the collaborative divorce law model many times helps parties develop a mutually respectful working relationship with one another in order to minimize current and future conflict.
LIMITED SCOPE DIVORCE SERVICES: Many times a divorcing couple has already come to an agreement on the division of their assets and debts and parenting time arrangements and an attorney is not needed for any negotiations. In such cases, many people are not looking for a traditional full service attorney-client arrangement than can cost thousands of dollars. They are looking for an attorney to provide cost effective, very specific limited scope divorce services. Most commonly, the client is looking for an attorney to take the agreements and translate them into acceptable court documents. They are also looking for guidance for navigating the court process. Hiring an attorney for a limited scope purpose can greatly reduce the cost of hiring legal counsel.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

My leisure time interests include health and wellness, fitness and healthy cooking. As a mother of two young children, I am dedicated to modeling a healthy lifestyle for them. I am also very involved with planning and attending parents’ group activities at my church.
